Goal Crushed, LOTS of progress

Ha, so I definitely haven't posted daily. But let me assure you, I have been making decisions--many decisions.

Here is what I've done since my last post (a mere 6 days ago)

-Picked up my wedding dress
-Decided on bridesmaid dresses
-Changed my colors
-Designed save-the-date cards (we are now trying to decide which one to use!)
-Decided on and reserved our reception space
-Worked on the guest list

And probably other things that I can't think of now...but yes, I have been super busy and I am crazy excited about planning, now that I've gotten things rolling.  I will be back after Thanksgiving break! I may make some posts between now and then, but don't count on anything.

New Goal! + Engagement Photos

I have been completely awful about keeping up with my blog posts. Mostly because I've been bad about keeping up with wedding planning, however a few things have happened that I've neglected to share because I have been so, so busy.  But I decided that it's time to start writing and sharing regularly because if I don't make time, I'll never have time.  So my new goal is to post at least one entry a day for the next month (minus Fridays and Saturdays).  I'm wanting to do that for my regular blog, Unpaved Roads, as well.  However I want to take it a step further.  I want to make at least one decision (major or minor) every other day.  We have approximately 5 and a half months until we get married, so things need to get moving!

So for the latest updates.

On November 3, we made our final payment to Patten Chapel so it's officially ours. I'm so excited! On my way back to my car, I stopped by the chapel again.  It is so breathtaking.  I'm still blown away that we will be getting married there.  It's what I'd always imagined.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Emily Kay took engagement portraits for Desmond and me. They turned out GORGEOUS! Here are a few.

Just a few of the amazing pictures. :)

Also, we entered this contest to be models for tinyprints.com photo Christmas cards.  It's really not about being a model, it's all about the $1,000 prize if you win.  Basically, we submitted a photo and judges decide if we're a finalist.  If we are, on Dec. 2, people can vote for it.  So if we make it that far (and I seriously doubt we will), I will update with a link.

Going to the Chapel and We're Gonna Get Married!

The ceremony location is set: Patton Chapel on the campus of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I love this church! It's really everything I'd imagined. They began construction on the building in 1904, I believe. It started out as a Christian church, but UTC has ownership of it now. It's not used for regular church services anymore. The university uses it for choir practices, nursing pinnings, and other things, plus they rent it out for tons of weddings. It has gorgeous stained glass, but you can't really see it in the pictures because of the light. Each window has a small stained glass shield that has the name of a Christian reformer

I love the cracks in the back wall. You can't see them too well in this picture, though.

The ceiling is so gorgeous!

I'm super excited! I can't wait!

I have a dress! | We have a photographer!

I have a dress!
I am so very excited! My mom and I went to Atlanta today to buy my wedding dress. I found it on Monday when Moreia and I went to New Natalie's Bridals. I took my mom back later that day, and she loved it. I can't describe it on the blog, but it is absolutely gorgeous and I love it! It's true what they say--when you know, you know. But yes, it was bought and ordered today. I'm very excited!!!! It should come in November or December.

We have a photographer
We decided on a photographer today too! We're going with Ray and Erica Tisdale of 35Atlanta.
They are amazing photographers and super-nice. I know I've said this a million times, but We are very excited!!!

Wedding Bands | Dress Shopping

Wedding Bands
Desmond and I bought our wedding bands today! I'm so very excited! It was our first big wedding purchase. Last week we were on vacation with my family in Florida, and we did a little ring shopping down there. I was getting pretty discouraged, thinking I'd have to drastically change some part of my engagement ring so it would fit a diamond prong set wedding band. My engagement ring is set lower than most so it won't get caught on things when you're wearing it and such (Desmond knows me so well). And I love it like that. But every place we went to basically said, "Sorry, not gonna work." So yesterday we went to the place in Asheville where Desmond got my engagement ring. I just love them there! They were super helpful. They helped us find the exact rings we wanted at an amazing price! Desmond's is a simple 6mm white gold pipe cut ring. Mine has little round diamonds in a pronged set and two baguettes (which add some character). They even said they could simply adjust a prong on my engagement ring so the two rings are flush. We found them yesterday, but we wanted a night to sleep on it. Today we decided for sure that those were the ones and we snatched them up! I'm so excited!!!

Even More Dress Shopping
On Tuesday, Desmond's mom took the day off work and we went shopping for a wedding dress together! It was so much fun! They only have two stores in Asheville area, so we headed to Greenville, SC, which is only an hour away. We went to 5 different shops and I tried on about 12 different dresses. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it was. Believe me.

I did find a dress I like! But I really didn't like the place or people we dealt with too much. They kept their dresses very non-descript. Most places will let you take a picture of the dress--they didn't. They even cut the original designer's label out of the dress and added their own. I don't know. That just doesn't set right with me. I understand that they want you to actually buy the dress you want there, but it just doesn't seem right to remove the designer's label! I'm planning to go to Atlanta this next week. I might still get the dress from the place in Greenville--it was a great dress. Everything I wanted. But the place didn't feel right. So I'm going to keep looking.

Well, I'm going to try to post more frequently! Things have been a little crazy here. A lot of decisions, coming up really soon!
